Along shady roads you discover old churches, fortresses,
remainders of Maginot Line and sandstone peaks, uncountable spots
and places where the craft of crystal and rock carving is practised.
The routes are of medium difficulty on good trails and paths. Daily
distance up to 6 hours with high and low altitudes. Good training

Tour Details:
Day 1: Individual arrival at Wissembourg
Travel to Wissembourg, check in at the hotel, tour of the old town
and the museum.
Day 2: Wissembourg – Lembach, approx. 20 km
Hiking tour across the summit of Taubenberg to Pfaffenschlick and
Soutzerkopf. Arrival at Lembach, where the local remainders of Maginot
Line “Kalkofen” can be visited.
Day 3: Lembach – Niedersteinbach, approx. 17 km or
Lembach – Obersteinbach, approx. 20 km
The fortresses Löwenstein, Hohenburg and Fleckenstein belong
to the most typical representatives of fortifications in the Vosges.
After a break you visit the fortress Fronensburg.
Day 4: Niedersteinbach-Niederbronn, approx. 20 km or Obersteinbach-Niederbronn,
approx. 17 km
Walk up the valley Lautertal to fortress Schoeneck. After that you
climb the summit of Wintersberg, with 581 m above the Vosges. Via
Dittenthal and the Celtic settlement you walk on to health resort
Niederbronn-les-Bains.
Day 5: Niederbronn – Reipertswiller or Niederbronn
– Lichtenberg, approx. 20 km
Walk to fortress Wasenburg, high above Niederbronn-les-Bains and
on to the romantic ruins of large Arnsburg. Descent into the valley
Untermuehlthal. In the afternoon ascent to Col de Steige and to
little village Reibertswiller.
Day 6: Reipertswiller-La Petite Pierre, approx 22 km or
Lichtenberg-La Petite Pierre, approx. 15 km
First stop at fortress Lichtenberg, then you continue your walk
through Wimmenau and Erckartswiller until you reach La Petite Pierre,
a village with a fortress, where the regional nature park office
of North Vosges is located.
Day 7: La Petite Pierre – Saverne, approx. 23 km
Start today’s hike with a visit of Fortress Huneburg, renovated
in neo-roman style. The ruins of Daubenschlagfels lie only a few
steps apart, afterwards you walk uphill to Saint-Jean-lès-Saverne.
The last day ends in Saverne.
Day 8: Saverne – individual departure
After breakfast taxi transfer to Wissembourg and end of the tour.
