This tour through South-East Sicily is very impressive with unique change of scenery. You cycle through Val di Noto, recognized by UNESCO as world heritage site. On the tour you see late baroque cities as: Palazzolo Acreide, Modica, Sicli and Noto, as well as the most important of baroque city of Syracuse, capital of Magna Grecia. Tour Details:

Day 1: Individual arrival in Palazzolo Acreide
Handing over of rental bicycles and information pack.

Day 2: Palazzolo Acreide – Modica approx. 45 km
Enjoy precious treasures of the past in Palazzolo Acreide, then cycle through Monti Iblei, renowned for the beautiful scenery. The farms marked their borders by typical dry stone-walls, the scenery changes from bareness to wilderness.

Day 3: Modica – Pozzallo approx. 40 km
Before leaving Modica you should taste the special local chocolate spiced with pepper. Downhill through typical gorges of Monti Iblei, via Sicli to Pozzallo.

Day 4: Pozzallo – Marzamemi approx. 50 km
Today is a flat stage. After crossing the swamps Pantani Longarini and Pantani Cuba, important rest place for migratory birds on their way from Africa to North Europe, you reach the southernmost tip of Europe, Isola delle Correnti, on the same latitude as Tunis. Here the Ionian Sea and the Street of Sicily meet. The tour passes through Portopalo di Capo Passero – southernmost settlement of Europe – through fisher village Marzamemi and ends in San Lorenzo.

Day 5: Marzamemi – Noto approx. 40 km
You continue cycling through flat territory and follow the coast northwards passing through natural reserve Vendicari. This unspoilt oasis is refuge for a high variety of flora and fauna. From here you take on into direction of Noto, capital of baroque.

Day 6: Noto – Syracuse approx. 55 km
You continue cycling through the plain along the coast to Syracuse, capital of Magna Grecia, where a visit of archaeological park Neapolis is a must.

Day 7: Visit of the old town of Syracuse
Visit the enchanting island Ortigia, where history and the different cultures are present since 3000 years.

Day 8: Syracuse – Catania
Individual departure after breakfast.
